Our Journey: The History of Selli Green Foundation

The Selli Green Foundation was officially registered on May 1, 2025, but the heart of our mission was born long before that in the rural villages, schoolyards, and green fields of Tamil Nadu, where we witnessed both the beauty and the struggles of grassroots India.

Humble Beginnings

The seeds of the Foundation were sown through informal community work carried out by our founders and volunteers, who were passionate about creating change in areas often left behind remote villages, neglected children, degraded landscapes, and forgotten farmers. What began as small acts of service  distributing school kits, planting trees in barren lands, supporting struggling single mothers  slowly grew into a larger vision.

Over time, these local efforts evolved into structured community programs addressing the core pillars of education, childcare, environmental sustainability, and rural development.

From Initiative to Institution

As our impact expanded, the need for an organized platform became clear. In early 2025, with the support of like-minded individuals, social workers, educators, and eco-warriors, we took the decisive step to register Selli Green Foundation as a non-profit trust.

The Foundation was named after the serene Selli River, symbolizing life, purity, and the continuous flow of support we aim to offer to society. It reflects our deep-rooted connection to nature and our commitment to preserving our natural and cultural heritage.

Milestones and Growth

Though we are a newly registered organization, our founding members bring years of experience in social work, education, rural entrepreneurship, and sustainable living. Even before formal registration, our grassroots actions led to:

  • Supporting over 300 underprivileged students with school essentials.

  • Conducting health and nutrition camps for children in rural areas.

  • Organizing tree plantation drives and eco-awareness campaigns.

  • Partnering with local self-help groups to promote clean cooking and organic farming.

Our formal registration has now opened doors for greater collaboration, transparency, and scalability. We are in the process of obtaining 12A80G, and FCRA registrations to further our reach and trustworthiness among donors and global partners.

Our Commitment Moving Forward

We don’t measure our success in numbers alone, but in smiles, restored lands, clean classrooms, and stronger villages. We are on a mission to transform compassion into action, to build sustainable futures, and to empower the unheard.

Selli Green Foundation is not just an organization — it is a growing movement for change. One village at a time, one tree at a time, one child at a time.

“From a single seed of service grew a forest of hope.”

We invite you to walk this path with us — as a volunteer, supporter, donor, or simply as a voice for change.
